Jakarta in the rearview
World of Coffee Asia took place in Jakarta last weekend and we were there to take it all in. We were there when George Jinyang Peng of China won the 2025 World Brewers Cup Championship—and we’ve got the winning recipe to prove it. We were on the showfloor to check out all the coolest new gear. And we were even there when Bangkok was announced as the host location for next year’s World of Coffee Asia. And there’s even more coverage coming in hot next week, so stay tuned.
The Everyman Tasting Set from Corvus Coffee

ICE crackdowns in Kona
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have recently been doing sweeps on Hawaii’s Big Island, home to Kona. Most of the coffee farms in Kona rely on immigrant labor, and ICE detaining individuals, even some who are here legally, and it is adding uncertainty to coffee production, one of the most vital industries on the island.
Rub a dub dub
Monday is Memorial Day and that means barbecues. And if you’re busting out the grill, make sure you invite coffee to the cookout, in rub form. Luckily, making your own coffee spice rub is easier than making a nice cuppa. That is, if you have this handy dandy recipe from your friends at Sprudge.

A TikTok trend made good
Tiktok loves coffee, specifically creating (and sometimes re-discovering) inventive new concoctions. The latest trend is called Cloud Coffee and it combines espresso, coconut water, and a splash of alt milk. It’s basically a coconut iced Americano with milk. But it could use some work. So that’s what we did, and the results? Not bad. Not bad at all.
