The Sprudge Report - The v60 Dynasty
The Sprudge Ultimate Coffee Bracket Challenge comes to a familiar end.
V60 three-peats as Ultimate Coffee Bracket Challenge Champion
After weeks of head-to-head match-ups and nearly half a million votes cast, the winner of the 2023 Sprudge Ultimate Coffee Bracket Challenge has been crowned. And stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but v60 found itself once again standing victorious. It’s a three-peat for the lauded pour-over brewer. I think we can safely call it a dynasty at this point.
A tasty (non-alcoholic) coffee tipple
A double shot of espresso, steamed milk, and a made-from-scratch whiskey caramel sauce. That’s the latest specialty drink crafted by Chrome Yellow Trading Co in Atlanta. It’s a thoughtful reimagining of the classic latte, perfectly pairing the whiskey flavor, without the burn
Andrea Allen is on The Road To Milan
Andrea Allen’s dream run finished with a 2nd place finish in the 2021 World Barista Championship in Milan, Italy. It began nearly two years prior, in Orange County, California, where she finally broke through and won the US Barista Championship. Already winning awards on the documentary festival circuit, the first trailer for The Road to Milan is out now.
A roaster round-up
This week, we visited with roasters in both Americas. First up was Moxie Coffee Co out of Phoenix, Arizona. As part of our Sprudge Maps Spotlight feature series (if your cafe hasn’t signed up for Sprudge Maps yet, you can do so here, and the best part is it’s completely free!), we check in with the cafe and roastery to learn more about their operation. Then we took a flight south to São Paulo, Brazil to learn about a fresh crop of new roasting operations that have popped up across the city.

Who’da thunk it? Hey, they can’t all be winners, right?
Howard Schultz vs. Bernie Sanders

It went about how you’d expect it would.
Sustainability in coffee shipping material
When in comes to sustainability, the last leg of a coffee’s journey—to the consumer—is often not given much thought. Put it in a box, slap some tape on it and get it out the door.
