The last week of Build-Outs
Well, summer came to a conclusion this week and so too does the 2025 Build-Outs of Coffee. But not before we got the chance to feature three brand new cafes. First up, in Miami, after two successful coffee trucks, Naughty Coffee is opening up their first brick and mortar in the heart of downtown. Then, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, .Raw has opened one of the wildest concept stores we have ever come across. Finally, out last Build for the year comes via Slow Hurry in Youngstown, Ohio. The once roaming espresso bar has found a home inside Stylogarten, a local barber shop.
Out of the Box, in Milan
La Marzocco’s premier event series, Out of the Box, is making its triumphant return to Milan. Corresponding with Host Milan and the World Barista Championship, Out of the Box is a day full of demos, discussions, coffee from renowned global roasters, and a good old fashioned after party.
A second act for used coffee gear
You’ve got too much coffee gear but you want more coffee gear. Such is life. Luckily the answer for both those quandaries exists in the same place. Introducing Second Shot, a new online marketplace to buy and sell used coffee gear. Powered by Prima Coffee, Second Shot is a consumer-to-consumer platform that allows companies and individuals to list any home or commercial coffee equipment they no longer have use for.
The World Barista Championship heads to Tokyo
It’s never too early to start planning your 2027 vacation. And with the latest announcement from the SCA, your destination is all but a given. Taking place at the end of April 2027, the World Barista Championship returns to Tokyo, one of the world’s great coffee cities. Start getting your itinerary together now.
Coffee for your liver
Your liver is important. It filters out toxins, processes nutrients, and synthesizes proteins. So keeping a healthy liver is vital for health. Luckily, coffee is your liver’s best friend. A new meta-study examines all the ways regular coffee consumption prevents all types of liver disease, and the results were staggering.

This week in Press Releases, we learned of Klatch Coffee, who have once again teamed up with Sprouts to bring 20 more in-store cafes to Southern California locations. The project is expected to be complete some time in 2026.
Tariff relief may be on the way
Tariffs, they’re still around and wreaking havoc on coffee prices across the supply chain. But help may arrive soon. A bi-partisan group of legislatures are introducing a bill to exempt all coffee imports from any tariffs imposed after January 19th. This impacts, most notably, the 50% tariff on coffee coming into the country from Brazil that has been destabilizing coffee prices.
