Coffee people are happier after drinking coffee
I hope you’re sitting down for this, but a new study has found that coffee people are happier and more energetic after drinking coffee in the morning as opposed to instances where they are not. I know, I could hardly believe it myself, but it’s true. To be fair, it was only one of the findings from the published work, but you have to feel bad for the research assistant they made type it out.
The chaos of ecological farming practices
Most people would probably say they wished all the things they consumed were grown without the use of chemicals and harmful pesticides. But for those producers looking to do so, it’s not as simple as just composting. There’s a new report that followed three species of ants and one predator fly on a Puerto Rican coffee farm over the course of three decades, and the struggles for dominance between the four reveal the massive complexity of a given ecosystem. Which makes caring for the land all the more difficult when you can’t use a one-size-fits-all solution.
It has a certain je ne sais Quebecois
Quebec is a kind of country within a country. Canada’s French-speaking province feels more European than it does part of the Great White North. And its capital, Quebec City, is no different. It’s a bit of a North American tourist destination, thanks to its French influence and food scene. And the coffee there is having a bit of a moment as well. We last visited Quebec City back in 2016, so it was time for another trip. And this week, we are touring some of the newer cafes pour ton prochain voyage.
Another espresso machine x engine crossover
It was not that long ago that we reported on a new espresso machine was made out of a BMW Boxer motorcycle engine. And yet here we find ourselves again, at the crossroads between espresso machine and motor. This time, it’s a La Marzocco Linea that’s been made to look like a supercar engine. This is thanks to 3D printed parts from Berlin design studio Sucuk and Bratwurst. And let me tell you, this thing looks built for speed.
Perusing the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar
We are less than two months away from the start of the 2025 World Barista Championship in Italy, taking place at HostMilan. And while it would be easy to focus entirely on what is easily the biggest competition on the coffee calendar, that would be to overlook all the other cool events taking place around the world in the meantime. That’s why we’re taking a look at the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar. In it you will find a regularly updated list of throwdowns, cuppings, trade shows, comps, learning sessions, and so much more. Because why wait until late October to have a good time?
Get your bean off the screen
Screen addiction is a very real thing. So bad in fact that the only way we can keep from using apps is with other apps. One of them is the new Focus Friend, which features a little bean in your phone, and every time you pick up your phone, it disturbs its knitting. It’s very cute and surprisingly effective and it has a little coffee.
