The 2023 Sprudge Twenty
Now in year five—that’s 100 total inductees if you can believe it—the Sprudge Twenty was created to honor those changing the coffee game as we know it. From across the entire supply chain, these 20 individuals are moving the industry forward, and we are excited to honor them for their work. Interviews will begin rolling out in the near future, so stay tuned.
For those in Portland for Expo
You made the trip all the way up to the Pacific Northwest to take part in the SCA Expo… now what do you do? Luckily your friends at Sprudge have you covered. Want to know who’s speaking at Re:Co? That’s an article. Want to swap some coffee? That’s an article. Want to know what parties are poppin’? Article. Need food and drink recs? You better believe that’s an article. If you’re in PDX right now, Sprudge has all the deets you so desperately desire.
For those watching from afar
Alas, not everyone was lucky enough to attend Expo this year. Some have to get their updates from a shiny screen. For you, Sprudge is also here. We’re going to be reporting on all the sights and sounds all weekend long, from the convention floor to your eyeballs. And if you are tuned in for US Barista Championship coverage, we’ve got you. We’ve got schedules, we’ve got Semi-Finalists, and as we get even deeper into competition, we’ll be covering everything blow by blow.
Events across the pond
While Portland may be the epicenter of coffee in the United States right now, there are big time events happening in Europe as we speak, naming the London Coffee Festival and Design Week in Milan. Rancilio has a heavy presence in London this weekend, and in Milan, La Marzocco has opened a temporary pop-up shop to showcase some of their offerings, including the Special Edition “Nordic” Linea Mini.
Gear!
It’s been a pretty big week in coffee gear announcements (I’m sure that has nothing to do with Expo). Cropster’s new BrewBeacon allows users to connect their volumetric espresso machines to the cloud to automatically track and report on brew consistency. Meanwhile, Weber Workshops just released the Moonraker, the most gonzo Weiss Distribution Tool I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Want.
